1st B&B Sea Scout Group

Margaret Harker Hall & Blofield Memorial Ground 1st B&B Sea Scout Group

Website found here:  https://1stblofieldandbrundall.org.uk

The 1st Blofield and Brundall Sea Scout Group (1st B&B) is a thriving group in the Eastern Norwich District, Norfolk, UK.  The Group has four sections:

  • Beaver Scouts (aged 6 to 8),
  • Cub Scouts(aged 8 to 10 1/2)
  • Scouts (aged 10 1/2 to 14)
  • Dreadnaught Explorer Unit (aged 14 to 18) in partnership with Eastern Norwich District

1st B&B can trace their history back to 1913, which is just 5 years after Baden-Powell started the Scouting movement. Originally, the Group was associated with Blofield Church. There was a break during the Second World War due to a lack of leaders, and then the Group was reformed in 1952.

1975 saw the Group gaining recognition from the Royal Navy. Our recognition number is 68. Recognition requires a high standard of excellence to be attained and maintained as well as regular inspections by a Royal Navy Officer. We are 1 of 101 Groups in the country to hold this recognition and the whole Group wears the recognition badge on our uniforms.

We have 2 venues owned by the Group: The HQ on Yarmouth Road in Blofield and the Waterbase in Brundall.

The Waterbase holds Royal Yachting Association Training Centre status and we hope to become recognised by British Canoeing soon.
