Revitalising the Hall
From Committee Room to Community Room
We have freshly painted this room using recycled paint, removed the old carpet tiles and cleaned off the carpet glue leaving the original wooden floorboards visible. We have cleaned and decluttered. Trustee Rep (for Blofield United Football Club) Barry Murphy kindly took one of the original wooden trestle tables and has sanded and polished it to create a new table for the room. 10 upcycled wooden chairs are still in the process of being stripped back by hand, then repainted. New handmade bunting in the new colours was donated and seat pads were purchased for the wooden chairs. New directable spot lights were installed replacing the strip lights, and a plug socket was replaced too. On the landing the walls were repainted, all cabling tidied up and furniture cleared to ensure the corridor is kept tidy. A new enamelled light fitting keeps the landing bright. A simple makeover but a world of difference from the cluttered room previously.
We have applied for a grant to fund new curtains for the room. This new community room is now in action as a community arts & craft club on a Wednesday afternoon 1-3pm - do join us!.
Main Hall Update
Professional decorating company WH Decorating Services has performed magic on the high walls, ceiling and has sanded back the woodwork in the main hall. Community Payback painted the woodwork the woodwork Soft Sage Green and noticeboards have been given a new coat of paint, and rust coloured edging to match the curtains.
There is a new Soft Sage Green set of round wooden knobs for 26 small coats to one side of the hall. Fresh fire signage has been hung and the old wooden clock, and plaques have been given a clean and polish. The change in colour has transformed the space and there has been a lot of compliments on how much brighter and more spacious it feels inside.
