Greener Community Day
Come and join us on 22nd November from 12:00 to plant saplings donated by The Woodland Trust and create a new hedgerow, outside our village hall; Margaret Harker Hall. The saplings are a range of Native British hedging plants and will be dug into a prepared area of soil.
Please bring your family and friends, the event is free and inside the hall will be refreshments, Village Voices choir singing meaningful songs and a range of other organisations with stalls providing you with information, resources, activities. There will be craft activities for the community.
You are able to sponsor a swift box - we will be creating a swift village at the east side of the hall, and installing the swift caller, and nest box camera paid for by National Lottery funding as part of our Communities Fund grant.
Any funds raised via the refreshments will be going towards the roof fund as we aim to put a new roof on the building, and add solar panels and batteries to support a sustainable village hall - providing electricity for the hall and potentially for future air conditioning to make the hall a cooler space in hot days ahead.
Please make this community event one to remember!
At 6pm there will be a showing of the People's Emergency Briefing which is a free film about Climate Change. This is a ticketed event that adults are welcome to attend. It will be followed by a conversation. The UK faces a growing climate and nature emergency. Yet most people have never been fully briefed on what it means for our lives, our economy and our future.
